Somehow, in my 26 years this is the first time I visited the Danube Delta. Being a water sign, I love to be around water in any form, seas, lakes, rivers and sometimes, even pools. So for me, these three days spent in the Danube Delta were splendid.
After a 3 hours drive from Vama Veche, spent two days there also, we arrived at Murghiol to take a 45 minute boat ride to Holbina Trei Bibani, the resort we stayed at. The weather was awful the first day, all that I did is to wonder around the property like a hobo and try to catch some fish on the deck ( you’ll see in the video below ), without any luck of course. But it was very relaxing, just what I needed. Another option was to take a bike & visit the surroundings, Holbina Trei Bibani has 1200 acres of Delta in their care. But again, the weather wasn’t that friendly.
After a good nights sleep in one of the cozy rooms, savoured a delicious breakfast. Ahh, the food, the food was beyond delicious. I’m not usually a big fan of fish dishes but daaaamn, these were mouth watering. I still dreamy about a sander file roll ( hopefully I got the name right ). Got sidetrack, food does that to me.
After breakfast, we took a Sun Tracker barge on a two hours ride in the Delta. Besides seeing more than fifty swans, different bird species and “flying” fishes, you’ll see what I’m talking about in the video, charged my batteries with the positive energy and general calmness of the Danube Delta.
I also had the chance to learn pike fishing which is very, very, very entertaining. Caught two pikes and a perch on the deck during my “training” and afterwards decided to crash the boys fishing trip. Best decision eveeer. Why? Besides more beautiful landscapes, I caught a 95cm pike which gave me the thrill of a lifetime. Ahh, the adrenaline. You know, beginners luck! In total, I caught 5 pikes and two perches.
The last day, did a little more fishing then relaxed by the pool in a hanging rattan chair.
The trip was just what I needed after a full summer and now I just can’t wait to go back and fish again, ha!
Did a little a vlog from the trip, a small part is in Romanian, but I urge you to see it & enjoy the dreamy landscapes.
