The dreamy Casa 8 in Bucharest & more

A couple of weeks ago, actually two weeks ago, I got an invite from the lovely Irina Neacsu to attend one of her weekend workshops, a linocut and textile printing. Did I ever tell you that I have two left hands? I think I did! I actually bought some stuff to do a couple of Christmas DIYs for my youtube channel and never managed to start them, ha!

Moving on! Irina Neacsu‘s studio in Bucharest which she shares with Madalina Andronic, is an absolute delight for the eyes and soul, if I may add, and couldn’t restrain myself to snap a couple of pictures of the dreamy place. Built in the ’30s, Casa 8 ( The eight house ) still has original details, like the hard wood floors, I’m guessing that the stoves too, and it is full of illustrations, furniture & deco pieces made by the ladies. When I’ll have my own place ( hopefully in this life ), a Herbarium Transylvania armchair will be on the top of my list.

As for the linocut workshop, it was amazing! What is linocut you may ask? It is a printmaking technique where you carve a shape in linoleum and then use it to print different materials, hope I got it right. It’s like making stamps with your hands! I was a bit afraid that I will ruin everything, but I’m super proud of my naive tulip and the lovely pillowcase that I’ve made with it.

The whole process was relaxing and there’s a great feeling at the end when you created something with your hands, one that I don’t usually have 🙂

Can’t wait for another workshop as I understand Irina plans to introduce a series of weekend workshops ( Atelierele de weekend ) in February.
