If you visited DailyDreamDecor before. you may know Silvia already! Silvia ( @silvia_cimpeanu ) is one of our contributors here for quite some while, actually years. She recently purchased her first home in Bucharest, a 58 sqm two room apartment in the north part of Bucharest. The apartment building is new, so she didn’t have to go through extended renovations.
You’ll see a mix of colors, textures and prints throughout the home, an absolute delight!
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m a fashion stylist with a big passion for writing and home decor. I love pretty home items I think they give you your day to day joy.
What is your home style?
Almost all of my home is retro, inspired by the Old Hollywood, I’m obsessed with that era (1920-1960) and I wanted to tell a Hollywood story in a lot of corners of my home. The kitchen is farmhouse-glam and the bathroom has a jungle theme.

Where do you get your inspiration?
I’m a big Pinterest fan, I check it out almost daily and I love to save Pins that interest me. I usually get my inspiration from pictures that stick in my head, if an idea really sticks with you, then ,you won’t get bored easily of it. Also, I love checking out constantly home decor shops, museums, art galleries, cool bars, terraces and restaurants and all of those really inspire me when it comes to home decor.
Which is the dreamiest room /corner in your home?
All of the corners that show my main hobbies. I’m a big WTA fan and I have signed tennis balls in a corner of my favorite black steel shelf.
I have pictures of celebrities that inspired me or pictures that I love all over my home, that’s why I’m also preparing a Movie Gallery wall. Nevertheless, I love the mug collection in my kitchen space and the glass collection that shines on my golden bar cart.
What was the biggest challenge while decorating?
The kitchen space that’s quite unique! I wanted a pink kitchen because I saw one in the TV show “The Circle” and I said yes a pink and gold kitchen will look super glam.
So, I’ve contacted the crew that did all my previous kitchen spaces and we searched for the perfect materials to do it right. I also loved blending in the farmhouse and glam styles because I could’t decide on one. Turns out they go great together despite the fact that are total opposites.
I know you love DIYs, which one if your favorite?
I don’t do complicated ones, the things I do the most is changing plain furniture into gallery walls by adding my favorite photos on them.
But a DIY thing I really enjoyed in my home are the floral pillow cushions I have in my living room that are made by a talented friend from that fabric that was left over when I cut the bedroom curtains.
Where do you find the best décor pieces for your home?
Pepco and Sinsay Home are my secrets, many people don’t go so often in these shops and you can find great pieces there that are quite affordable.
I also love the art pieces from H&M Home, the kitchen items from Zara Home (all of my glasses and plates are mostly from there), elefant.ro for light fixtures, the chairs that Dedeman and Mobexpert have (I’m a big chair fan) and Ikea for furniture and deco elements.
Any tips for people starting to decorate their home?
Start with furniture first, not home decor elements, it will dictate the style of your home. The best thing you can buy first is the sofa and I suggest a neutral one. From there you can gather your favorite items and when you find the common style (that will be the style that defines you), then, give it personality with decor elements.
I’m not a fan of minimal homes, I’m all about Maximalist homes that tells a story without having clutter (haha).
