Easy access to the bathtub seems to be essential when it comes to comfortable use of the bathroom space. That is why we should think carefully about what bathtub height from the floor will be used when installing this element. There are a number of factors that need to be taken into consideration. We have spoken with Local Technician, who explain them in more detail!
Optimum bathtub height in the bathroom
A classic and recommended solution is to position the bathtub so that its upper edge is 60 cm above the floor surface. This is to facilitate the use of this element for all household members, while ensuring their safety and daily comfort.
However, not only the standard height should be taken into account in this case. An important step is also to think about who is to use the tub. If the family members are short and there are children living in the house, it may make sense to use a height of 50 cm when installing the bathtub.
Of course, this principle also works the other way round. If the occupants are of a good height, a bathtub height of > 60 cm (looking from the top edge of the bathtub to the floor) is certainly a good option.
Even though most households use a standard height, there is nothing to prevent personalisation when installing a bathtub to make the preparation and the time afterwards comfortable for everyone in the household.

Bathroom tub height – general guidelines
It is not only the principles listed in the paragraphs above that should be taken into consideration when installing a bathtub. Other considerations also count, such as:
- The depth of the bathtub bowl. It is worth remembering that the siphon trap must be positioned at a depth of 15 cm when mounting the bathtub. To calculate the height of the bathtub, we need to add the depth of the bowl and the aforementioned 15 cm and, at a minimum, connect the bathroom fixture at this level.
- Dimensions and weight of the bathtub. This issue is also worth taking into account, as heavy cast iron pieces will require a different height than those made of lightweight materials.
- Floor finish. When planning the installation of a bathtub, remember that the height should be calculated from the floor, which has already been finished. Therefore, if we do not know what will be on the surface, it will be difficult to calculate where the fixture will end up.
Also bear in mind that standard bathtub legs are 11-18 cm high. If you choose a model with legs, you should also keep this height in mind when planning the placement of your bathroom equipment.
Installation of a corner bathtub with enclosure can be carried out successfully on your own. It is only worth equipping yourself with the necessary accessories and tools. It is important to remember that the height of the bathtub can be adjusted using the screws supplied by the manufacturer.
In the case of a corner bathtub, the above-mentioned guidelines also need to be taken into account in order to ensure that the bathtub is positioned in the optimum height.

Installing a legged or built-in bathtub
If this piece of fitting has legs, then, as we have already mentioned, you need to add them to the overall height of the bathroom bathtub. If the bathtub is fitted with a built-in, remember that it also comes with legs – only that they are invisible at first glance. The height of the legs largely determines the dimensions of the bathtub and the height at which the entrance to the bathtub is located.
It is worth noting that built-in models are very often used nowadays. Their popularity is probably due to the fact that they combine aesthetics and functionality, being one of the most important elements of bathroom space equipment.
Thoughtful and perfect installation of the bathtub is of considerable significance for its subsequent (long-term) use. It is therefore necessary to consider whether the use of a standard height will be a way to success, or whether it is better to modify it slightly (only if because the household members might be rather short/high).
If you’re looking for a wide range of bathtubs to choose from, consider exploring the Royal Bathrooms. Whether you prefer a classic design or something more modern, Royal Bathrooms offers a variety of bathtub styles to suit your needs.
Let’s also mention the polystyrene supports, which are an alternative to the classic feet of bathtubs of different dimensions. Their height must also be added before mounting the bathtub in the enclosure. However, unlike the legs, this element can be shortened slightly to ensure that the bathtub is at the ideal level. This allows the occupants of the house to take comfortable and (unusually) safe baths.
